Kit List for Winter Camp

DO NOT BRING: RADIO, OR ANY FORM OF ELECTRONIC GAME.
WHAT TO BRING:
  1. Necker (to be worn at all times, including the drive up)
  2. Sleeping bag
  3. Indoor shoes
  4. Socks (6 pairs wool blend)
  5. Underwear (2 pair)
  6. Long underwear (1 pair)
  7. Pajamas
  8. Long pants (2 pairs)
  9. Sweat shirt, wool sweater (2)
  10. T-shirts (2)
  11. Tooth paste, tooth brush, soap, face cloth, towel, hair brush
  12. Winter jacket and snow pants
  13. Winter boots
  14. Mittens(best) or gloves(ok) (3 pairs)
  15. Toque (2)
  16. Scarf or neck warmer
  17. Flashlight and extra batteries
  18. Survival kit
  19. Skates
  20. Sled
  21. Shovel
  22. Last but not least, your best scouting spirit

SUGGESTED ADDITIONS: pencil, pen, paper, personal first aid kit, cub book, reading material, sunglasses, snow shoes

Cub Winter Camp at Opemikon, Perth

1st Arctic Cub Pack will be spending the weekend at Camp Opemikon in Perth on the weekend of February 27th. Drop off on the Friday night is between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. Pick up on Sunday afternoon is at 1:00 p.m.

Directions to camp can be found on the Camp Opemikon website, or follow this link. A suggested kit list will be posted shortly and distributed at our next meeting.

Carpooling is strongly suggested as driving time from Rockland is nearly two hours.

Sub Zero Camp

Third years are reminded that they have been invited to Walsh's Farm this Saturday to partake in the daytime activities at Odawa's Sub-Zero Scout camp.

Please dress well, layering is best and bring lots of extra socks and mitts... and your mess kits.

Cost is $6 and drop off time is 0830, with pick up between 1500-1600.

A map has been sent to all involved.

Hope to see you there for some great winter scouting adventure!

January 2009

January’s Theme: Guiding!

Tickets:
We are helping the Knights of Columbus sell tickets for the Arthritis Society. In return, we may get a donation towards our winter camp. Ticket stubs and money ($20) are due back by February 10th.

Please Note: For any outdoor event, parents may not leave their child without the leader’s consent. This is to ensure that the youth are properly dressed for the event.

Jan. 20: Outdoor meeting
We’re going on an Urban Hike. Please dress for the weather and mug-up.

Feb. 7: Winter Cuboree
Where: RJ Kennedy Community Centre, Cumberland
When: February 7th, 2009 from 10 am to 3 pm
What: Outdoor activities with other Packs from Odawa Area.
Cost: $12 due by January 20th. Cheques made out to “1st Rockland Scout Group” to be given to Mang, please.
Note: Lunch and snacks provided. Dress for the weather.


Feb.27 to Mar. 1: Winter Camp
Where: Camp Opemikon, Perth
When: February 27th to March 1, 2009
