Did you miss us? The summer went by awfully fast, if you ask me!
It was great to see all the friendly and familiar faces at opening campfire last week. Our pack has grown in size and we are happy to welcome the tenderpads and new faces that have joined us for the season. Are you ready for some fun? Then get ready to run with the pack!
We had our first meeting this week and maybe it's just me but was it ever busy! Holding steady at 21 cubs, everyone showed up on Tuesday night. After introductions, the pack made its way to Council Rock where we had our first Grand Howl led by Oo and then we played some games and talked about all the activites we want to do this year. Canada & the World and Health & Fitness are our themes and we got some fantastic ideas from everyone. Toomai led the closing Grand Howl and I can tell that all the new cubs can't wait to get their very own jungle names! Better make sure you make it to Investiture!
A couple of activies are right around the corner for us. The first of course, is the Odawa Cuboree next week (September 24 to 26) at Apple Hill. A handout will be provided at the next meeting containing all of the details, including how to get there and drop off/pick up times and what to pack. If you'd like to check it out ahead of time, you will find a sample packing list on our website. Also, please make sure that your cubs bring an empty 2 litre bottle for a craft that we will be doing over the weekend.
On Saturday, October 2nd, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., we will have Apple Day, a National fund raising event, where we get out in to the community and give apples for a donation. Afterward, we meet back at the bandstand for a BBQ lunch. We will meet at the Bandstand at Parc Simon.
So, I think that's it for now. Keep checking back with us as we surely intend to keep this blog up to date for everyone! Meanwhile, if there are any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at pack@1strocklandscouts.ca
See you all next Tuesday!
